Why Most Approaches Don’t Create Lasting Change
Here at The Circuit Break Programme, we understand that most approaches focus on stopping the behaviour. But the behaviour isn’t the problem — it’s the response to one. It’s meeting a need. Until you understand what that need is and where it came from, long-term change is rarely possible.
How The Circuit Break Programme Actually Works
The Programme Overview
The Circuit Break Programme is made up of six structured modules, each one building on the last. Unlike approaches that focus on managing behaviour, every module is designed to take you deeper into understanding what has been driving it. You work through the content at your own pace, supported by a dedicated therapist and a Programme Guide throughout. You do not need to be abstinent to begin. For some people, the goal is complete abstinence. For others, it is regaining control — being able to choose when and whether they use, rather than feeling driven to. As the programme addresses what has been driving the behaviour, the need to use in order to manage emotions often naturally reduces. The programme meets you at your goal, not ours.
Who This Is For
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Lisa. I’m a qualified psychotherapist specialising in addiction, trauma, and emotional wellbeing — and someone who has lived it herself. I built The Circuit Break Programme because I kept seeing the same gap: approaches focused on stopping the behaviour, and almost none asking why it started. My approach is direct, honest, and grounded in both clinical expertise and personal experience. I know that shame is often at the heart of what keeps the pattern running — and that real change doesn’t come from adding more of it. It comes from understanding what’s underneath. That belief sits at the centre of everything The Circuit Break Programme does.
